What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is Talk Therapy! Going to therapy is not just about mental health but also emotional difficulties, daily life or life transitions; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety. Therapy can be short term or long term and this will be decided between you and your therapist on how many sessions are needed! Therapy can be performed in a one-on-one setting between the therapist and client, or as a family, couple or group sessions. There are many different types of psychotherapy that can explore different aspects of ones life. Some examples are: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (Individual, dyads, family), LGBTQIA+ Affiliated Identities and more!
